About The Project
Comfort Object is an emotional, artistic initiative proposed as part of the healing process for people from the south of Israel who survived the Saturday October 7th attack. The aim of the initiative is to provide a space for the simultaneous preservation and renewal of a memory from the physical home, which was attacked and destroyed, and in so doing to create an additional facet in the healing process of these survivors, including a holistic approach.
Dresser, toy, table, armchair, tools, jewelry, picture, stuffed toy or any other object or piece of furniture that has significance following that Saturday, will be renewed. The item may change its purpose following its renewal.
Accompanied by the personal story and with the help from the support team of the initiative, the object will be renewed or repaired, rendering it an old-new item. The restoration process will be artistically photographed, hand in hand with the trauma survivors, as full partners. The owners will get their renewed objects back. If they choose, they can lend them to an exhibition, to be presented to the public together with the photos.
The project is funded entirely by donations, and we invite you to take part and support it.

”And therefore I’ll visit every street and corner,
Every market and courtyard
and alley and garden.
From the rubble of your ruins
I’ll gather little stones
To keep for souvenirs.”
